Youth

Construction Safety Nova Scotia is committed to supporting young workers in the construction industry with quality, accessible, and affordable programs and services. We are working to increase the capacity for youth in the construction industry and lower injury and incident rates in the youth sector.

Educators and youth partners are changing students’ lives throughout the province of Nova Scotia by acting as guiding lights in Occupational Health & Safety education through Construction Safety Nova Scotia. Teachers, youth workers, and community service workers throughout Nova Scotia are working with Construction Safety Nova Scotia to offer CELT and WHMIS 2015 for youth.

WHMIS

Canadian law requires that any person exposed to hazardous materials in the workplace must be trained in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015). We offer free WHMIS 2015 training for youth participants of our programs and partnerships. Each participant can learn about safety data sheets, labels, and responsibilities for safely using, storing, and disposing of hazardous products.

Construction Entry Level Training

Construction Entry Level Training (CELT) is free for youth through partnerships with schools and community organizations. Through the support of educators and community coordinators, we are reaching thousands of youth each year, helping them learn their occupational health & safety rights, duties, and responsibilities prior to work in any industry.

We are committed to creating a safer youth sector with fewer injuries and incidents through youth engagement and innovation of our products and services.
